Do you have an overview of the BD Veritor™ At-Home COVID-19 Test collection process?

The detailed instructions on how to administer the BD Veritor™ At-Home COVID-19 Test are provided in step-by-step video instructions within the Scanwell App.

Prior to completing there first self-administered test, here are some general guidelines of the process so participants know what to expect:

  1. Participants will download the Scanwell app on their phone.
  2. Open the Scanwell app, create an account, provide consent, and follow the prompts on the Patient Registration screen
  3. Watch the introductory video, open the BD Veritor™ At-Home COVID-19 Test kit and locate the scan card to complete the lighting check prior to beginning the testing process.  This step is essential to ensure an accurate test result.
  4. Once the lighting check is successfully completed, wash or sanitize hands and have all components of the test laid out.
  5. Assemble the test kit according to the video instructions and when prompted, rotate the swab inside of the nostril 5 times on each side and then plunge the swab in the collection tube for 15 seconds.
  6. Pinch the swab, cap the tube, flick the tube.
  7. Remove the test stick from the sealed pouch and place 3 drops from the tube into the specimen well on the test stick.
  8. Allow the test stick to develop for 15 minutes.  The video timer will alert the participant when it’s time to proceed.
  9. Place the test stick on the Scancard as directed and hold the phone above; the camera will automatically scan the test after quality checks are completed.  Participants will have 5 minutes to complete this step or the test will not be valid.
  10. Results will be displayed as Positive, Negative or Invalid.
